Karachi: Dry fruit dealer robbed of Rs1.6m
Karachi: A suspected robber died while his accomplice fled along with Rs1.6 million after a scuffle took place between them and a dry fruit dealer in Boulton Market on Monday.
Two armed men barged into the office of Noor Dry Fruit near Denso Hall in Boulton Market. They, at gunpoint, ordered the owner, Nooruddin, to hand over the cash and mobile phones. However, Nooruddin managed to overcome one of the robbers. In the ensuring scuffle, the robber’s handgun fell down and went off. As a result, a bullet hit the suspect in the abdomen and he died on the spot.
However, his accomplice managed to flee along with the booty. Later, the owner informed the police who took the body of the alleged robber to the Civil Hospital for legal formalities. During a search of his person, police recovered a National Identity Card (NIC) on which his name was mentioned as Zahir Shah, 50.
According to the police, Zahir Shah was accidentally killed by his accomplice.
Meanwhile, armed men snatched a motorcycle and killed a man on resistance in the Mithadar police jurisdiction.
A motorcyclist, Hyat Gul, 30, was intercepted by the robbers near Altaf Hussain Road, New Chali. When he resisted the robbery bid, the armed men shot him dead and fled.
Meanwhile, the owner of a jewellery shop was killed while he was resisting a robbery in the Steel Town police limits.
Four armed men riding two motorcycles barged into the Aneela Jewellery Shop situated in Gulshan-e-Hadeed No 1. The bandits made all those present in the shop hostage at gunpoint and told them to lie down on the floor.
Two of them kept guard, while the other two collected cash and gold ornaments worth millions of rupees. When the robbers were escaping, the owner of the shop, Altaf Pasha, 26, son of Ghulam Qadir, put up resistance. At this, one of the robbers opened fire on him and fled.
The injured was being rushed to the 100-Bed Hospital when he died. Later, his body was taken to the JPMC for a post-mortem. Police arrested two robbers while their two accomplices managed to escape.
