FIA claims to apprehend alleged human trafficker
KARACHI: Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday claimed to have apprehended a man allegedly involved in human trafficking. Accused Rafiq Awan is said to be an agent of a local travel agency and was taken into custody after several complaints were registered against him. AHTC official said that the accused was involved in sending various people abroad on fake documents and visas.
He said that they also seized fake visas, passports, stamps and other documents from the possession of suspect. The officer said that the accused was also arrested before on the same charges but he resumed his illicit activities after being released from the jail. He further said that according to preliminary investigation, it was revealed that two of his companions were involved in the illegal business and raids for their arrests are now being conducted. He said that they are also verifying the documents while the travel agency owner and employees would also be arrested and questioned if anyone is found guilty during investigation. A case has been registered against the accused while further investigation is underway.
