Islamabad: NH&MP recovers 2 snatched cars
Islamabad: The National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) recovered a car bearing registration number IDN-3466 snatched from Gujranwala on Tuesday, the NH&MP said. At midnight, DSP Muhammad Aslam of Beat-5 received information regarding the said car plying on the motorway.
The officers of NH&MP were alerted and a search was carried out of the vehicle. The vehicle was soon spotted in Chakri Services Area. NH&MP officers immediately arrested the accused namely Naeem, resident of Gujranwala. The accused during the investigation disclosed that he was on his way to Peshawar for disposal of the vehicle. The arrested accused and vehicle were later handed over to Ferozwala Police Station, District Gujranwala.
Meanwhile, NH&MP officers also recovered a Toyota Corolla car (No. IDD-756) snatched from Tallagung on 6-10-2011. The vehicle was spotted and intercepted by the NH&MP officers in the area of Beat-6 some 26 kilometres from Chakri.
The snatchers, however, managed to escape with their accomplice through a backup vehicle (No. IDA-7984), which was also plying on the motorway. This car was also spotted by the NH&MP officers and intercepted at North-320 some 5 kilometres from Chakri towards Islamabad. Motorway Police managed to arrest one of the person namely Habib Ullah, son of Ikram Ullah, resident of Malakand, who during preliminary investigation admitted that two other accomplices escaped by crossing the safety fence. The arrested accused and both cars were later handed over to PS Saddar, Talagang.
