Man remanded to FIA for harassing girls through Internet
ISLAMABAD: Senior Civil Judge Mahmood Haroon on Wednesday remanded an accused of harassing girls through Internet to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle (CCC) for two days.
According to FIA, the accused was involved in hacking email accounts of female students of a school and then harassing them through unsolicited, obnoxious and vulgar emails.
The First Information Report (FIR) was registered against unknown person under section 36, 37 ETO on the complaint of a female student of a school in Capital.
The complainant had filed a written application with Islamabad Zone FIA director on September 19. She stated that some unknown person had been hacking her email account, creating and uploading fake profiles of her and also other female friends on facebook. In these fake profiles, that person had mentioned her personal mobile number along with the mobile phone numbers of her friends. On these accounts, she said they all were mentioned as call girls. The culprit also created a fake facebook ID. According to FIA, the facebook administration provided Basic Subscribers Information (BSI) to identify the fake profile user. It was revealed that the e-mails were transmitted using Internet Protocol (IP Address) 18.104.22.168 that belongs to ISP and statically assigned to user “Askari Travel office”. The matter was also technically examined by the Administration of latter’s system administrator that pointed out that computer equipment was being operated by Mohsin Raza Khan, an officer at same group. The said accused Khan was red handedly arrested on the spot and the computer equipment was taken into possession through seizure memoon October 11. Permission to search and seize the electronic/digital equipment and accessories involved in illegal activities at the said premises was obtained from court of Islamabad.
The Call Detail Record of the accused mobile phone number was recovered and the recorded showed that the accused involved in that matter. The FIA requested five days physical remand for further investigation regarding that matter and recoveries on the directions of the accused. The court ordered FIA to produce accused before the court on October14.
