Rawalpindi: Man killed by elder brother
RAWALPINDI: A man was shot dead by his elder brother while his wife was thrashed over a land dispute in Karamabad (Westridge) in the wee hours of Wednesday, police said.
Malik Altaf Elahi, one of the cousins of the deceased told police that he was at home last night when he received a telephone call from his Nafees Akhtar that his elder brother Muhammad Zareen had a row with him.
He said, on receiving the call, he went to his cousin’s house and was informed by Nafees’s wife Fauzia that she was at home when the door bell rang. She said as her husband opened the door, he found his elder brother Zareen along with another unidentified person — clad in black clothes — standing outside.
She said: “Zareen shouted at me and punched my teeth out. Then he, along with the accomplice, opened fire on my husband killing him on the spot.” Later the alleged killers escaped from the scene.
Syed Nazim Abbas Shah Sub-Inspector who is leading the murder investigation revealed to Dawn that the deceased who had been working in Saudi Arabia had recently returned to Pakistan and owned a piece of land here. He said the alleged killer wanted to grab the land from his younger brother as the latter had no offspring. The investigation officer said efforts by the police were underway to arrest the alleged killers
