Karachi: Young banker killed
KARACHI: A young man was shot dead in Gulshan-i-Maymar on Thursday. Police said Salman, 31, son of Shan Elahi, was attacked with a gun while he was driving through Maymar Morr in his car (ALK-634).
The station house officer of the Gulshan-i-Maymar police station said that it was not clear if the suspects were on foot or in a vehicle as there was no eyewitness to the killing.
The victim was a resident of Sector Y, Gulshan-i-Maymar, and an officer in a private bank. He was on his way to work when attacked by unknown armed men, the police said.
He received a single shot in the head and died instantly, they said. “Initially, we took it as a mugging incident but an examination of the crime-scene suggested that it was a targeted killing as the victim`s valuables were present in his car,” the area DSP said.
Police found a spent bullet casing of a TT pistol from the crime-scene. The young man got married 15 days back, said SHO Sohrab Meo, and quoted the victim`s family as saying that he was not affiliated with any party nor did he have any enemies.
Police said that the family had moved to Gulshan-i-Maymar from North Nazimabad about two months back. An FIR of the incident was not registered till late in the night.
