Islamabad: Dacoits, carjackers continue their looting spree unhindered
Islamabad: Continuing their looting spree, the criminals set a record when they took away gold ornaments, cash and vehicles to the tune of Rs170 million in 25 hits in different localities of Rawalpindi, the police spokesman said.
As many as 17 vehicles were lifted by the carjacking mafia active in the city and three from Taxila and Wah Cantonment without any resistance from police. This is worth mentioning here that it was the registered offences while police avoided registering over 50 per cent of the crimes.
In Lalarukh Colony along Adiala Road (Saddar Bairuni Police Station), four gunmen committed robbery at the house of Dr. Mian Faisal and took away 32 tolas of gold, Rs400,000 in cash and a licensed pistol after torturing family members.
In Baqir Lane-1 located in the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines Police Station, four dacoits entered into the house of Subedar (r) Khalid Mehmood and swept away 18 tolas of gold with three mobile phone sets after making his family members hostage.
In Banaras Colony falling in the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines Police Station, a gang of four gunmen looted the house of Riaz Ahmad and kidnapped his servant, Iftikhar Ahmad, who tried to intercept the dacoits.
Four daring robbers riding two bikes, intercepted a woman, Robina Qamar, in Lalazar when she was busy in shopping and snatched gold ornaments she was wearing after holding her at gunpoint in broad daylight.
In Mubarik Lane along Adiala Road, dacoits targeted the house of Kanwar Yousaf Baig and took away 22 tolas of gold, Rs200,000 in cash and three mobile phone sets.
The gangsters, involved in vehicle lifting, lifted 20 vehicles from different localities of the city. A Honda car bearing registration number LXJ-9332 was lifted from Tipu Road, Jinnah Colony, falling in the jurisdiction of the Waris Khan Police Station. An Alto Mehran car (LA-835-ICT) was stolen from E-Block, Satellite Town, and a Suzuki VXR (RLE-3264) was taken away from Gulistan Colony (Wah Cantonment). An Applied For Honda motorcycle was stolen from Qasim Market (RA Bazaar Police Station) and a Pajero jeep bearing registration number XH-4711 was lifted from Gawalmandi (City Police Station).
From Chaklala Scheme-III (Airport Police Station), a Suzuki Alto car (LZ-1253) was stolen and a Suzuki Carry Van (RIV-1813) was lifted from Khayaban-e-Sir Syed (Pirwadhai Police Station), while a motorcycle (RL-760-ICT) was stolen from Qaidabad (Pirwadhai) and carjacking gang took away a Honda car bearing registration number HV-597-ICT from Amarpura Mohallah (Waris Khan Police Station).
Five vehicles were stolen from the jurisdiction of New Town Police Station. A car (LW-325-ICT) was lifted from Siddiqui Chowk, a Honda car (MLF-29) from B-Block, Satellite Town, a car (DRK-7860) from Malikabad and a Suzuki Alto car (IDM-3876) was lifted from Double Road.
Three vehicles were lifted from the jurisdiction of Sadiqabad Police Station. A bike (RIM-4466) was lifted which was parked in front of Dubai Plaza, Murree Road, a Suzuki Alto car (HC-691-ICT) was taken away from Sharifabad and a Suzuki Pick-up bearing registration number RIL-2206 from Noor Colony.
A bike (RQ-813-ICT) was stolen from Lane-4 of Westridge, a Suzuki Alto (RLD-177) from Taxila and a Toyota Corolla (IDJ-8105) was lifted from Model Town, Wah Cantonment
