Karachi: Man gets life term
Karachi: A sessions court on Tuesday awarded a life term to a convict and seven years in jail to his friend in a marriage party firing case that occurred in the Kalakot police jurisdiction in 2006.
Additional District and Sessions Judge (South-Judicial Complex) Javed Iqbal Karejo announced the life imprisonment for Aftab and seven years’ jail for Adnan for killing Khalil who had stopped them from aerial firing in the marriage party.
The judge found Aftab guilty of the offence after hearing the arguments from both sides. He fined the two Rs0.5 million each as he issued the conviction orders for them to serve the remaining terms in prison. In case of default they would spend another six months behind bars.
According to the prosecution, Aftab and Adnan were busy with aerial firing in the marriage party. Khalil resisted and asked them to stop doing so as it would not only hurt people but it also might cause a huge loss.
Upon which both got infuriated and opened fire on Khalil, who died on the spot.
Khalil’s brother, Shahjehan, lodged a case at the Kalakot police station under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
