Peshawar: 2 acquitted in drug smuggling case
PESHAWAR: A local court on Tuesday acquitted two alleged smugglers, who were charged and arrested for smuggling hashish worth millions of rupees.
Additional Sessions Judge Khalid Khan acquitted Imran Khan, a resident of Mingora in Swat, and Ali Akbar from Shangla district in the smuggling case after the public prosecutor failed to prove charges against them.
Syed Akbar Ali Shah, lawyer for the accused persons, contended that the police had falsely implicated both the persons. The public prosecutor said that cops of the Faqirabad Police Station stopped a truck on October 6, 2010 and during search recovered 119 kilograms of hashish from the vehicle. He said the police arrested them and registered first information report against them.
