Lahore: Rs6m cash, gold gone in 19 strikes
LAHORE: Dacoits on Wednesday went on the rampage, shot at and wounded a woman and her son on offering resistance, robbed three houses and looted families and motorists at gunpoint during 19 successful strikes and fled away after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from different parts of the City.
According to the police sources, Ghulam Fatima along with her son Mian Khan was on her way home when two gunmen riding on a motorcycle intercepted her in Green Town police vicinity. The bandits took out guns and demanded cash and gold ornaments. As the woman tried to raise an alarm, the robbers opened straight fire at the woman and her son and fled away after snatching her handbag. The woman and her son sustained bullet wounds and were rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
Three robbers equipped with pistols barged into the house (166/B-block) of Akhtar Ali in Mustafabad police area. The robbers held up the family members at gunpoint and escaped after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 3 million. Four dacoits forced their entry into the house (82/B-block) of Ahmed Ali Johar Town area. The robbers locked the family members inside a room and took away cash, gold ornaments, garments and other valuables worth Rs one million at gunpoint. Two gunmen stormed into the house (No 10, Ali-block) of Ishtiaq Ali situated in Hanjarwal police precincts and snatched away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 700,000 after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint.
A car-rider Fateh Muhammad along with his wife was coming back after attending a marriage party when two gunmen riding on a motorcycle intercepted in Baghbanpura police limits. The couple was deprived of cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 400,000.
A motorcyclist, Muhammad Khurum, was going to his office when two gunmen stopped him in North Cantonment police vicinity. He was deprived of cash and mobile phone worth Rs 60,000 at gunpoint. Iftikhar Ali along with his friend was on his way to a market when two robbers riding on a motorcycle intercepted him in Sundar police area. The robbers held them up at gunpoint and snatched away cash and mobile phones worth Rs 35,000.
Two gunmen stopped Ilyas in Township police area and snatched away his mobile phone and purse, containing Rs 30,000 at gunpoint. Another car-rider Muhammad Ikram along with his wife was coming back after attending a wedding party when two motorcyclists intercepted him in Nawab Town police area. The robbers held up the couple at gunpoint and snatched away cash, mobile phones, and gold ornaments worth Rs 200,000. Two gunmen stopped Muhammad Afzal in Chuhng police area and deprived him of his cellular phone and cash worth Rs 80,000 at gunpoint. Robbers held up Muhammad Sadiq in Sabzazar police area and snatched his motorcycle (LEO-6436) at gunpoint. Two robbers held up Arif in Gulberg police area and snatched away his mobile and cash worth Rs 30,000 at gunpoint.
Two motorcyclists equipped with pistols intercepted Azhar outside Services Hospital in Shadman police area and snatched away cash and valuables worth Rs 65,000 from him.
Aftab Ahmed along with his wife was on his way home when two gunmen intercepted him in Ghalib Market police vicinity.
