Four, including two women, killed in metropolis
KARACHI: Four people, including two women, were killed in separate incidents in different parts of the city on Friday. A woman was killed and her husband injured for making a freewill marriage within the limits of Sohrab Goth police station. Police said accused Fayyaz and Riyaz entered the house of Haji Muhammad and allegedly injured his daughter Laila, 25, and his son-in-law Azhar, 28, by attacking them with axe and bullets.
They said the injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH), where during treatment Laila succumbed to her injuries, while Azhar’s condition was stated to be critical. They said Laila, who had earlier engaged with Fayyaz, had eloped with Azhar some 12 months ago. After settling domestic dispute, they were invited by Haji Muhammad at his house where they were allegedly attacked by Fayyaz and Riyaz.
The police said both accused fled to unknown destination. They said Laila belonged to Jagirani tribe and hailed from Larkana while his husband Azhar was Laghari by caste and hailed from Dera Ghazi Khan. No case could be registered till filing the report.
In another incident, a man was shot dead near his house in Baloch Goth within the limits of Orangi Town police station. Abdul Jabbar, 35, was opening his general store near his house when two armed men after exchanging hot words opened fire on him, resultantly he died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy. Police sources said that the victim belonged to Shia sect and might have been killed on ethnic basis.
SHO Asif Rauf said Jabbar was killed for offering resistance in a robbery bid as bandits tried to snatch his mobile phone, adding that the victim was the father of two children and used to run a general store since five years. The police handed over the body to his heirs after completing legal formalities. No case was registered till filing the report.
Separately, a man was shot dead in Gulshan Ghazi near Power House, Baldia within the limits of Mochko police station. The incident took place in the wee hours of Friday. Basharat Ali, 45, son of Taj Din, was shot dead during fight with his neighbour Ghazi Khail over a money dispute. The body was shifted to the ASH for post-mortem. Police have registered a case No 395/11 against Ghazi Khail and initiated a probe into it.
Meanwhile, a two-month-old body of a woman was found from an empty plot in Khayaban-e-Sehar within the jurisdiction of Darakshan police station. The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for postmortem. Police said the victim appeared to be a 25-year-old and wore Shalwar Kameez. She also had some torture marks, they said. Police said unidentified culprits murdered her at unknown place and then threw her body in the bushes. Later, the police moved her body to Edhi Morgue for identification.
