KARACHI: The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have arrested eight suspects, including a target killer, during raids in different areas of the metropolis on Friday.
The Crime Branch Zone II claimed to have apprehended a man accused of being involved in over two dozen cases of target killings. According to police, the accused identified as Shahid Jamil alias Tariq Chamber was arrested after a brief encounter in Sohrab Goth. They said the accused was arrested with LMG and two Kalashnikovs and was affiliated with a political party. SSP Crime Branch Javed Baloch said the accused was involved in 30 cases of target killing, including a Head Muharrir Tahir Shah and a constable Maqsood. An officer said the accused was also involved in several cases of heinous crimes, adding he was also jailed for 11 years. Police have also recovered a car (AQH-238) from his possessions. The officer further said after his arrest police also recovered four Kalashnikovs from a plot in Ahsanabad. Separately, a heavy contingent of Rangers conducted a raid at Khadda Market and its surrounding areas, arresting seven people and recovering weapons from their possession. Later, they moved to unknown place for further interrogation. The sources said that Rangers conducted operation on the information of Lyari gangster but no high profile criminal was arrested.
