Karachi: 5 suspects involved in 36 target killings held
Karachi: The Anti-Extremism Cell (AEC) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday arrested five activists of religious and political parties for being allegedly involved in 36 target killings.
SSP Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam Khan told The News that acting on a tip-off a police party raided three places in Mauripur, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Malir, arrested Muhammad Aslam alias Langoor, Muhammad Nasir Qadri, Zain-ul-Abidin alias Zanu, Muhammad Adil and Muhammad Noman, and recovered a Kalashnikov, a rifle, two TT pistols, a 9.MM pistol and a number of live bullets.
During the initial interrogation, Aslam, Qadri, Zain-ul-Abidin told the police that they killed more than 25 people in the Godhran camp situated in New Karachi Industrial Area.
Adil said that he along with his accomplices killed a councillor of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in Malir. He also said that he along with his accomplices killed five other people in the Malir area. Noman disclosed that he along with his accomplices killed four people in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
