9 suspects arrested during raids in metropolis

KARACHI: At least nine suspects were arrested in separate raids in different areas of the metropolis here on Wednesday. According to sources, the Anti-Car Lifting Cell of Sindh Police nabbed two criminals namely Nadeem and Bashir from Sohrab Goth and recovered 15 motorcycles from their possession.

SP Javed Akbar said that the accused were reportedly involved in the snatching of hundreds of bikes. He said, during initial course of investigation, the accused confessed that they used to send the snatched bikes to Chakwal against Rs 7,000 each.

SP Akbar further informed that the accused, who had been snatching bikes for past three years, had a target of pinching 15 to 20 bikes per month.

Meanwhile, Sir Syed police claimed to have arrested an alleged member of a banned outfit namely Tanveer Abbas from Sector 11-D of North Karachi, recovering a TT pistol from his possession. Police said that the accused, who was earlier arrested by the Crime Investigation Department but released on bail has been involved in the killings of four people in Godhra.



Similarly, Malir City police arrested five suspects namely Zubair, Ghulam, Naeem, Mustafa and Shahnawaz from Ammar Society and recovered four pistols from their possession.

They said Zubair was accused for the murder of police constable Ayub while other suspects were street criminals. Separately, a notorious drug peddler Abdul Jabbar alias Papa was arrested by Jackson police station.

Police said that he was involved in the murder of his accomplice Zubair Gul, son of Tor Gul. They said the drug peddler was recently released from jail.
