Karachi: Lyari gang activist shot dead
KARACHI: An activist of Lyari gang war was shot dead at Shahnawaz Chowk, Old Golimar, within the limits of Pak Colony police station here on Thursday.
Saeed Baloch, 41, son of Ismail Baloch, was going in his taxi No PG-5871 to meet his relatives when unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on him, resultantly he received bullet injuries and died on the spot.
The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for legal formalities and later handed over to heirs.
SHO Abdul Moid said the victim, a resident of Malir area, was the member of Arshad Pappu gang.
He said after the arrest of Pappu, rival group captured that area and victim’s home after which he shifted to Malir area from Old Golimar.
The official said he was going to meet his relatives in Old Golimar when unidentified armed men targeted him. He said initially, police revealed that Lyari gangsters might be involved in his murder.
Police handed over his body to heirs. No case was registered till filing the report.
Meanwhile, a man was stabbed to dead in Farid Colony within the jurisdiction of Mominabad police station here on Thursday. Two men barged into the house of Abdul Rasheed, 55, in Farid Colony and killed him.
Police said Rasheed had married Taj Haya a long time ago, and he had one daughter. Two years ago, he made another marriage with 16-year-old Praveen Zeba in Wata Sata in Swat and had one child from her.
Police have arrested accused Zeba, Nazmeen, Saeed in raids and started investigation. DSP Tariq Malik said that during interrogation, Zeba had confessed to getting Rasheed killed with the help of her lover Saeed and his brother Nazmeen.
He informed that Rasheed hailed from Swat and was working as a plumber. Police have lodged an FIR (379/11) on the complaint of deceased’s brother Fazl Kareem and initiated probe into the case.
