Karachi: Suspects who robbed minister’s family identified
Karachi: A prosecution witness, who is the supervisor of a security company, on Thursday identified two suspects in a case in which some family members of a provincial minister had been robbed.
Firdous Ali Khan, the supervisor, appeared in the court of Judicial Magistrate (South) Hatim Aziz Solangi in connection with the robbery in the Defence area in which the car of the family members of the Provincial Minister for Science and Technology, Jam Madad Ali, was intercepted and the family robbed when they were on their way home.
The investigation officer had moved an application for an identification parade. The court, allowing the application, placed 50 dummies along with the two accused, Shahid Khan and Abid Hussain, who had been arrested on Tuesday.
Two rounds of parade were held, and the supervisor picked up the accused, saying that they, along with their accomplices, had intercepted the car and deprived the minister’s family of valuables which included gold ornaments.
The supervisor also disclosed that six robbers first snatched valuables from the minister’s family at gunpoint and they later snatched a repeater and a rifle from the security guards and escaped.
Four of the accomplices are absconding. As Khan had also been wanted in several other cases, the prosecutor requested the court for further police remand as he said that more arrests were to be made.The court extended the remand of the suspects.
Meanwhile, the security supervisor was later threatened by the suspects of dire consequences in the courts corridor. Firdous Ali Khan was visibly shaken by the threats hurled at him by the suspects.
The absconding suspects in the case are Riaz, Sonu, Imran and Kamran. The same court sent Nauroze, a suspect allegedly belonging to the Lyari gang war, into judicial custody till November 8th in a case pertaining to recovery of 1,500 kilogram of charas.
