3 cops booked for Lahore rape
LAHORE: The Women Racecourse Police have arrested three police officials of the Services Hospital check-post on charges of raping a 30-year-old woman on Friday morning.
Top cops of Lahore police have suspended the accused cops and registered an FIR against them on the complaint of the victim. The victim was identified as 30-year-old Nabeela Rasheed, a resident of Bhatta Chowk.
According to the FIR registered with Women Racecourse Police Station, Nabeela Rashid visited the Services Hospital on October 24 in order to get death certificate of her brother Shaukat, who had died of dengue fever.
She visited a doctor to get the certificate but doctors with the help of other staffers captured her and handed her over to the Service Hospital Chowki police after levelling allegation that she had stolen laptop of a doctor.
The FIR states that Head Constable Muhammad Iqbal, Constables Adnan and Muhammad Iqbal after nabbing the woman threatened her of dire consequences saying that soon she would be charged under theft sections and would be thrashed by the women police officers during custody.
The FIR states that aforesaid cops earlier enticed Nabeela on the pretext of saving her from getting rid of the FIR but later on her denial took her to a local hotel located near Shadman Chowk by posing as if they were taking her to present before a senior officer.
According to the FIR, aforesaid cops raped Nabeela and later escaped from the scene, leaving her alone there. Police sources said that the arrested accused persons had confessed to their crime during initial investigations. A challan has also been prepared to present in the court.
Women Racecourse Police ASP Riffat Haider Bukhari said that they had completed initial investigation against the arrested men. The medico-legal of Nabeela Rashid has been obtained which has proved the crime. She said that they were investigating the matter and would complete investigations on merit.
