Arifwala : Man awarded death penalty; two others convicted in double murder case
ARIFWALA: Additional Sessions Judge Mian Muhammad Khalil Naaz on Saturday awarded death sentence and life imprisonment to a convict while other two convicts awarded life imprisonment on two counts each while the fourth accused is still fugitive in a double murder case.
All three convicts will have to pay Rs 200,000 each to the legal heirs of the deceased in case of default. According to the prosecution, Jahangir of Chak 23 EB lodge a report with PS Sadar Arifwala alleging that in 2009 convicts Bashir Ahmed, Ghulam Qadar, Muhammad Afzal and Muhammad Ashraf assaulted Mudassar, Ghulam Murtaza, Manzooran Bibi and Sajjad. Mudassar died on way to hospital whereas Ghulam Murtaza died at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore after twelve days.
After a lengthy proceeding, the court awarded death penalty to Bashir Ahmad, life imprisonment to Ghulam Qadir and Muhammad Afzal.
