Karachi: Target killing claims four more lives
Karachi: At least four people were shot dead in different incidents of target killings in the city on Saturday. Muhammad Rayees, 27, a masseur by profession, was standing on a footpath when he was shot dead by some unidentified people driving a car near Khayaban–e–Shamsher on 26th Street in Defence Phase–V.
His body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities. Police said that the deceased hailed from Bhawalnagar and it was a target killing incident.
Noor Khan, 25, was going to his workplace when he was sprayed with bullets by unidentified people riding a motorcycle near a G–19 minibus stop in Sultanabad.
His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem. Khan was a labourer and lived in Kunwari Colony. Police said that it was also a target killing incident.
The bullet-riddled body of Zardar Khan, 28, was found near a bus stand near Al-Asif Square on the Super Highway in the Sohrab Goth police jurisdiction.
Some passers-by saw his body and informed the police. The corpse was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities. According to the MLO, the man suffered two bullet wounds and his body also bore torture marks.
Police said that Khan had been kidnapped by unidentified criminals, who later tortured him to death and dumped his body.
Meanwhile, the bullet–riddled body of an unidentified man of about 25 years of age was found stuffed in a gunny bag lying near the Radio Pakistan building on MA Jinnah Road in the Preedy police limits.
A sweeper saw the bag and informed the police. The hands and legs of the victim were tied with a piece of rope. The corpse was taken to the Civil Hospital, where the MLO said that the man was brutally tortured and shot in the head.
Police said that the victim was kidnapped by unidentified criminals, who later killed him after subjecting him to severe torture.
