Karachi: Turabi case witness killed
KARACHI: A witness in the Allama Hasan Turabi murder case was shot dead by two armed men riding a motorbike on Sharea Faisal in Malir on Sunday night, police said.
Thirty-two-year-old Qasim Ali, son of Liaquat Ali, was killed in front of the Ibne Hasan Hospital, said a duty officer at the Saudabad police station said.
“The victim’s family has identified the two suspects involved in the attack,” said SSP East Javed Odho. He added that the victim was indeed a witness in the Allama Turabi case but the motive behind his killing did not appear to be sectarian.
The body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities, the police said. They added that tension gripped the area and businesses were closed down following the killing.
The victim was a resident of Korangi and had a monetary dispute with a junk dealer, the police said.
