354 militants held in Malakand: DIG
MINGORA: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Malakand Region, Akhtar Hayat Khan said there was ideal coordination and cooperation between the police and the security forces as 354 militants were arrested this year in the Malakand division.
Speaking to reporters on Monday at the press club, he said exemplary law and order situation in Swat district had been established and local and foreign tourists could visit the scenic valley without any hindrance.
He said sacrifices rendered by residents of Swat, the security forces and police collectively contributed to lasting peace in Malakand region. The official said there were 12,000 regular cops and 6,000 community police personnel working day and night to protect the life and property of the citizens.
He said police in Swat were equipped with latest weapons and the number of police station had been increased from nine to 12 for better policing. He said nobody including the militants would be allowed to challenge the writ of the state and stage a comeback.
