Karachi: Eight, including teenage girl and 3 women, die in mishaps
KARACHI: Eight people, including a teenage girl and three women, died in separate mishaps that took place in the metropolis on Wednesday. Two people lost their lives when a speedy dumper rammed into a passenger van near Yousuf Goth Terminal within the precincts of Mauripur police station.
Police officials said victims, identified as Abdul Rehman, 26, son of Bakhtiar and Saeed Khan, 26, son of Fazal, were transported to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK). They said the responsible driver managed to flee, however, his dumper has been confiscated. A case (423/11) has also been registered on the complaint of Rehman’s uncle, Noor Amin. The police officials said both deceased were unmarried and residents of Muslimabad. They used to work as the suppliers of edible oil.
Similarly, a 50-year-old woman namely Moomal Bibi was crushed to death at Two Minute Chowrangi within the remit of Bilal Colony police station. The victim, a resident of Surjani, was hit by a speedy dumper while crossing the road. She died on the spot while the responsible driver managed to flee from the scene. Later, the inhabitants of area gathered at the scene and torched the dumper. Body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy. Police officials said the deceased was a maid. Case could not be registered till filing of this report.
In another incident, Shamsa, 54, wife of Khursheed lost her life in a road accident near Arshi Shopping Mall within the jurisdiction of Jauharabad police station. Police said the victim, was a resident of Safoora Goth. She was knocked by a speedy motorbike while returning home from a relative’s place. Shamsa succumbed to her injures on the spot while motorcyclist Waqar, 54, son of Nisar also sustained injuries. The body and injured were shifted to ASH for autopsy and treatment. Case could not be registered till filing of this report.
Yet another woman namely Sardara Bibi, 45 was killed in a road mishap at Qayyumabad roundabout within the remit of Korangi Industrial Area police station. A police official informed that the victim was a resident of the same area.
Separately, a motorcyclist lost his life when a speedy vehicle knocked him near Islam Chowk, Orangi Town sector 11 within the precincts of Pakistan Bazaar police station.
The victim, identified as Nasir, son of Qamar, was a resident of Gulshan Raza, Orangi Town. He was shifted to ASH where he succumbed to the injuries during treatment. The responsible driver escaped from the scene. Case could not be registered till filing of this report.
Meanwhile, a man committed suicide in his house situated in Pehlwan Goth within the limits of Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station. Victim Makhdoom Badshah, 40, son of Sakhi Badshah, shot himself with his licensed pistol in the upper torso and died on the spot. Body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
A police official informed that the victim was unemployed for two years and committed suicide because of poverty. He hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His family took the body without having the medico-legal formalities completed.
In yet another incident, a 17-year-old girl also committed suicide in her house located in Macchar Colony within the jurisdiction of Docks police station. Deceased Shazmeena, daughter of Aman, drank some toxic substance after being scolded by her brother over a domestic issue. Body was shifted to CHK and later handed over to the heirs after autopsy.
