Lahore: Cafeteria owner among 6 killed in various areas
LAHORE: A 50-year-old man, a cafeteria owner, died mysteriously after he scuffled with the customers at a local factory in Kahana Police limits on Thursday. Police investigators said one Haji Muhammad Afzal, a resident of Shadab Colony, Chung, was running a cafeteria in a shopping bag factory at Ferozpur Road for the last several days.
They said Afzal started quarrelling with three employees of the factory identified as Safdar, Khadim and Saleem. A senior officer said that during the fight Afzal fainted and died on the spot.
“An FIR has been lodged against the aforesaid three men on the complaint of the deceased’s son under section 302 of CrPc,” they said. The accused, however managed to flee the scene. Later, the body was shifted to the City morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, a poverty-stricken, father of two, allegedly committed suicide in Rang Mahal Police precincts on Thursday. Police concerned said one Zahid Butt (30), a resident of Wacho Wali Bazar, committed suicide by hanging himself to a ceiling fan.
At least four people succumbed to their injuries in different road accidents on Thursday. Rescue officers said Ghullam Mustafa, 32, his mother Nargis bibi, 65, died while and his two month old child got injured near EME Colony after a Mehran turned turtle and collided with an electric pole. They said the injured child was shifted to the Jinnah Hospital where his condition was also told critical.
Meanwhile, one Soyen Masih, 65, a resident of Modern Colony of Kot Lakhpat, was on his way at Peeco Road when a speeding car ran over him and he died on the spot.
In another incident, a labourer who was injured four days ago when an under-construction mosque had caved in at Chauburji, also died at a hospital on Thursday.
