Lahore: Youth shot dead on court premises
LAHORE: Two gunmen shot dead a youth over old enmity in the premises of Sessions Court and in the presence of dozens of policemen, creating panic in the entire area, police and eyewitnesses said on Thursday.
Police said that resident of Shahdara, Rizwan Ali, was coming back after appearing in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Munir Ahmed Chaudhry in connection with a murder case when two gunmen opened straight fire at him.
The youth sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot while the killers, identified as Fayyaz and Luqman, managed to escape from the crime scene. Eyewitnesses said that dozens of policemen were on guard in the Sessions Court premises when the gunmen carried out the deadly attack and fled away without facing any resistance. Lawyers and visitors ran towards safe places to save their lives as the gunfire spread fear and panic in the sensitive area. Police investigators said that the killers had old enmity with the deceased. A good number of lawyers gathered on the crime scene and staged strong protest demonstration against the police high ups.
The police later reached the spot and removed the body to the morgue for autopsy. The police have registered the case against the killers and are investigating.
