Karachi: Homeless person killed, woman commits suicide
KARACHI: A homeless person was killed whereas a housewife committed suicide in separate incidents in the metropolis on Thursday. Police found an strangulated body of a man from a graveyard located at Baldia, Sector 19-D, within the precincts of Mochko police station. The identity of victim is yet to be ascertained.
SHO Nasir Mehmood said victim was a beggar and used to live in the same graveyard. “In the wee hours of Thursday unidentified men choked him to death and fled”, he added. Body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities and later moved to the Edhi Morgue for identification. The officer said victim was mentally challenged and appeared to be of 52 years of age. Police have registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of state and initiated the probe. Separately, a woman died in mysterious circumstances in her house at Ali Akbar Shah Goth in the jurisdiction of Ibrahim Hyderi police station. Thirty-seven-year-old Sawera, wife of Imam Hussain was a resident of Ali Akbar Shah Goth Street No 1 Bin Qasim. She hung herself to the ceiling fan to end life. Police official said when police reached the scene, her family members had already lowered the body to bed. Victim was a mother of three children and hailed from Bangladesh. Police said that the victim committed suicide in the early hours of Thursday after an argument with her husband. Body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and later handed over to the family of deceased.
