KARACHI: At least six persons allegedly involved in running off with goods carriers, were detained from Maripur Road here on Thursday. According to DSP Crime Branch Cell Irfan Ahmed the accused gang of goods carrier lifters, recently took away a truck at gunpoint from Gadap town in the night between Oct 27 and 28. He said that the accused persons also killed truck driver Abdul Latif in the process.
DSP Ahmed said action was taken on a tip-off, hinting that the accused were hiding somewhere at Mauripur Road with the stolen goods. Reacting on the information, law enforcement agencies conducted a raid and arrested six persons namely Arif, Haris, Zakir, Nasir, Javed and Mehtab and recovered goods including 500 batteries from their possession.
