Karachi: Police recover two people kidnapped for ransom
Karachi: The Shah Latif police managed to safely recover a young man who was kidnapped for ransom within their jurisdiction a day before Eid-ul-Azha and arrested the abductors.
The police said that on November 6, they registered the kidnapping-for-ransom case of Abdullah, who was abducted outside his house in the Abdullah Goth of Shah Latif. Joint teams were formed to ensure the safe recovery of the kidnapped youth.
The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs500,000 in exchange for the release of Abdullah and called his family from various cell phone numbers. The abductors then told his relatives to come and deliver the ransom money at a railway track near the Shah Latif Road.
Dressed in civilian clothes, a team of the Shah Latif police station also reached the spot. After spotting the criminals, the police raised an alarm and ordered the kidnappers to surrender. However, the criminals were not willing to go down without a fight and opened fire at the law enforcers. A shoot-out ensued, but the police managed to gain the upper hand and arrest the ringleader Bashir Ahmed and his accomplices Imran Ali and Daulat Khan.
Based on information gathered from the detainees, the police raided a small quarter and safely recovered the kidnapped youngster. Investigations revealed that Imran was a friend of Abdullah and provided information to ring leader Bashir Ahmed that would help in carrying out the kidnapping.
In a separate case, a CPLC team, in collaboration with the Sukkur police, recovered a minor boy who was kidnapped from the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of the city on November 8.
The CPLC said that three-year-old Hameed was kidnapped by a man identified as Shaukat, who had a dispute with the boy’s father, Ali Muhammad. Shaukat demanded a ransom of Rs1.5 million, but finally settled for Rs85,000. The kidnapper called Hameed’s father to the Sukkur Bypass.
The CPLC and Sukkur police managed to apprehend the criminal at the location and on then managed to recover the minor boy based on information provided by the kidnapper. The police also recovered a pistol from Shaukat.
