Lahore: Physical remand of former BISE IT consultant extended
Lahore: An accountability court judge, Ahmed Nawaz Ranjha, on Monday granted seven-day physical remand of Dr. Majid Naeem – former IT Consultant of Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Punjab, allegedly involved in embezzling Rs.2797850 from the Punjab University funds– to the NAB.
On Monday, NAB Punjab officials produced the accused before the court and sought 14-day physical remand to carry out investigation. On this, Dr. Majid Naeem’s counsel argued that his client had been nabbed because NAB wanted to hinder his client’s appearance before the judicial commission.
However, NAB prosecutor said that Naeem could appear before the judicial commission whenever he was called. After hearing arguments of both sides, the court granted seven-day physical remand of the accused, directing NAB officials to produce him again before the court by November 21. According NAB, Punjab University’s College of Information Technology (PUCIT) ex-principal Majid Naeem was booked over the charges of misappropriation of the said amount through misuse of authority.
