Lahore: Impersonator ASP arrested
LAHORE: Gulshan-e-Ravi Circle DSP Imtiaz Bhalli has arrested an impersonator ASP Saqib Waheed, who has plundered citizens and looted worth over Rs 3.3 million during the last two years.
The fake ASP has confessed of committing more than 32 felony acts at different shopping malls and leading markets during the above said period. The impersonator identified as 28-year-old Saqib Waheed, had been living at Walton Road, Al-Noor Town, for the last several years. According to the modus operandi, he introduced himself as ASP while he visited any shopping mall or trading center and commonly offered cheques instead of paying in cash. The money amounted to Rs 3.3 million till his last stunt and after that he was nabbed. After passing matriculation exams in 3rd division from a school having average repute, Saqib flew to Saudi Arabia to earn livelihood. Later, he was deported on certain crime charges and arrived in Pakistan in 2009 and became an ‘ASP’ showing criminal self-confidence. “The aforesaid ASP, even, went on to abuse and intimidate my SHO when the latter phoned him and demanded money through which he purchased some goods from a leading shopping market in Gulshan-e-Ravi area,” said DSP Imtiaz Bhali, adding Saqib Waheed introduced himself as an under training ASP somewhere in Lahore during interrogation.
