Islamabad: 82 suspects taken into custody
ISLAMABAD: The Koral Police Friday arrested 82 persons, including Afghan nationals and those hailing from tribal areas, as they could not produce any document for proving their identity, the police spokesman said.
A search operation was conducted by the Koral Police in various localities of their jurisdiction in which they screened houses, workshops, markets, under-construction buildings and residential areas.
The search operation had been initiated and police were conducting checking at slum areas, inns, hotels and restaurants and Afghan habitats.
These measures are being taken to ensure foolproof security in Muharram-ul-Haram and keep a vigilant eye on suspected elements.
On Friday, various teams of the Koral Police, under the supervision of SP (Rural) Faisal Bashir Memon, conducted thorough combing and search in various areas. The teams headed by DSP Ahmed Iqbal and SHO Inspector Sajjad Hussain Bukhari screened houses, under-construction building and other places in Bilal Town, Khanna Dak, Soodra, Sharifabad, Tarlai, Jhang Syedan, Taramri, Service Road, Ghori Town, PWD Colony and National Police Foundation Colony.
Police commandos and policewomen participated in the operation. Sniffer dogs were also used in some areas. The search operation would continue in coming days and complete combing would be made of sensitive areas, the spokesman maintained.
