Karachi: Man shot dead; two bodies found
Karachi: An aged man was shot dead in Orangi Town, while two bodies were recovered from different parts of the city on Monday. Sher Afzal (70) was shot dead outside his house in Rahim Shah Colony, Orangi Town, in Mominabad police limits on Monday night. The deceased received a single bullet on his head that caused his instant death.
Afzal hailed from Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and police apprehended that he might have been killed in some enmity. The body of Shahid alias Totla, bearing torture marks, was recovered from Mirza Adam Khan Road, Lyari, in Chakiwara police limits. Shahid had left his house in Chakiwara late Sunday night by telling his family that he was going for some work, but did not return.
Police said that the deceased was earlier arrested in a criminal case and he had obtained bail some three days ago, adding, he might have been killed by some gang-war elements on the suspicion of being a police informer.
Meanwhile, Muqabil Shah’s body was found hanging in the basement of a house in Shahra-e-Noor Jehan police limits. The deceased was residing in Block-J of North Nazimabad and worked as a watchman in Block-N.
The deceased’s elder brother Kalwa Shah reported to the police that Muqabil told him on Sunday morning that he had developed a petty dispute with Abdul Majeed and Abdul Hameed and they had called him at a house situated in Block-J. Muqabil left the house for meeting them but did not return home and his cellphone was also found switched off.
On Monday morning, a police team along with Kalwa Shah led a search of various houses in Block-J and finally found the tortured body of Muqabil Shah hanging in the basement of Majeed’s house. Later, the police lodged an FIR against the said suspects on the complaint of Kalwa Shah, and further probe was underway. During his daughter’s engagement ceremony, 45-year-old Farooq Masih started firing in the air in jubilation and a bullet hit his abdomen. Police claimed he was under the influence of alcohol. His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
