Islamabad: Guard, police constable foil bank robbery bid
ISLAMABAD: A dacoit was killed during an attempt to loot a bank on Wednesday while firing trade with his accomplices in `Ali Pur’ in the area of Koral police station.
According to police official, a person entered Habib Bank Limited in the area of Ali Pur in the morning and bank employees found his movements suspected. Security guard of the bank Mehtab Shah chased him by resorting to aerial firing and a police constable Muhammad Arshad present on duty, tried to overpower him.
In the attempt, the coat of the absconding person fell to ground and his other accomplices standing outside started firing on security personnel. One of the bullets in this indiscriminate firing hit the head of suspected person and he died on the spot. His other accomplices managed to escape from the scene. SSP Muhammad Yousuf Malik and SP (Rural) Faisal Bashir Memon reached the scene soon after the incident ere and collected the evidences through local police team.
The police have started the search of absconding criminals and shift the dead body of alleged dacoit at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital. DNA test of the deceased is being conducted and police is also endeavoring to identify the whereabouts of the deceased and hopeful for a major breakthrough into this case soon. The SSP has constituted two teams each headed by SP (Rural) Faial Bashir Memon and SP CIA Ch. Liaqat Ali to search the absconding criminals.
