Lahore: Plea against arrest dismissed
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday dismissed the petition of Dr Majid Naeem, the former IT consultant of education boards of Punjab, who had challenged his arrest by the National Accountability Bureau.
Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh issued the order after a NAB official presented warrants against Dr Majid issued by the competent authority. Dr Majid, through his counsel, had pleaded that the bureau’s investigating officer had arrested him without obtaining permission from the competent authority, i.e. the chairman of NAB. His counsel also said that the case against Majid was fabricated. NAB had arrested Majid following a reference filed against him on charges of corruption Rs2,797,850 in PU.
