Sukkur: 6 killed in Sukkur tribal clash
SUKKUR: Six people were killed and five injured in an attack in Randhan on Thursday. Police said some people of the Kalihora clan were travelling on a tractor trolley on Mahar-Larkana Link Road with a load of dry grass for their cattle. All of a sudden a car appeared and intercepted their vehicle and inmates of the car opened indiscriminate fire.
Five people died on the spot while six got injured and one of them also succumbed to his injuries later. The attackers fled in the car after committing the crime. The police said they sealed off all exit routes and established temporary pickets to arrest the killers.
Giving details, police said there was an old tribal feud between Lasharis and Kalhoros over possession of a piece of land. It was only two days back when the Kalhoros killed three people of the Lashari clan, and then Lasharis killed six Kalhoros in revenge.
The police identified the dead Kalhoros as Hizbullah, Ahmad Ali, Nawab, Shaman, Akhtiar and Janib. They said the injured were Saddam, Sanaullah, Mazhar Ali and Muhammad Ayub. They had been shifted to hospital for treatment. Police said all of those who were attacked were close relatives.
Meanwhile, hundreds of the people of the Kalhora tribe, armed with weapons, came out of their houses. Instead of burying the deceased, they carried the bodies to the Indus Highway and staged a demonstration and blocked it for traffic for several hours.
One of the Kalhora elites Gulab Kalihoro said the people killed by Lasharis were labourers and had nothing to do with any dispute. He accused the police of involvement in the bloodshed and argued that six people with sophisticated weapons committed five murders but the police, considering the tense situation in the area, did not check the car from which the killers committed the crime.
