Karachi: Two killed in different acts of violence
KARACHI: Two people were killed in different incidents in the metropolis on Friday. An elderly man was shot dead at his shop within the limits of North Nazimabad police station. The incident took place in North Nazimabad near Ziauddin Hospital, where unidentified armed men, riding a motorcycle, opened fire at Sajadia Furniture Shop, resultantly 70-year-old Ghulam Hussain received a bullet in his head and died on the spot.
SHO Malik Ayub said the victim was the resident of same area where the incident took place and he belonged to Shia sect. He said police suspected that the sectarian issue could be motive behind the incident. He said that the victim’s son works as volunteer in scouts.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to his family. The victim was the father of two children. No case was registered till filling the report.
Separately, a man was stabbed to death in Shahanshah Chowk, Bin Qasim with the limits of Ibrahim Hyderi police station. Mukhtiar, 26, son of Salim Ullah, was sitting with his friend Yousuf when they exchanged hot words. Yousuf attacked Mukhtiar with a dagger, leaving him seriously injured.
The injured was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police have arrested Yousuf. SHO Naik Mohammad Jakhrani said the victim used to live alone in a quarter and he was a fisherman. Yousuf also worked with him and due to money dispute they started fight and then Yousuf killed him.
The victim hailed from Bangladesh and was unmarried. Police have registered a case against Yousuf on the complaint of victim’s friend Jalal and initiated a probe into the case.
