Karachi: Four including PN employee, shot dead in city violence
KARACHI: Four people, including an employee of Pakistan Navy (PN), were shot dead in separate acts of violence in the metropolis on Monday.
Two young men were shot dead by bandits at Korangi No 5½, G-area within the limits of Zaman Town police station.
Abdul Majid Alvi, 37, son of Abdul Rasheed was waiting for students in a pick up truck when unidentified armed motorcyclists reached and tried to snatch his vehicle. On his resistance, one of the bandits opened fire, killing Majid and a 34-year old passerby Amir, son of Abdul Rehman on the spot.
The bandits managed to flee from the scene unchallenged and police shifted the bodies to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
SHO Hatim Marwat said both victims were the residents of same area. Majid used to ply transport for schoolchildren and was a father of two whereas Amir was a painter and a father of two. An officer confirmed none of the victims had affiliation with any political or religious party. Police have registered an FIR (615/11) against unidentified men on the complaint of Majid’s father and initiated probe.
Separately, body of a PN employee was washed ashore near Qasim Shah Road within the precincts of Jackson police station. Khan Mohammad, 45, son of Noor Mohammad was a resident of Tashqand Mohalla Macchar Colony, Keamari.
A police official said victim had received a bullet in his right eye and some torture marks were also present on his body. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy.
SHO Abdullah Ghomro said that the victim left his home to get his younger brother’s cell phone repaired after which the family lost contact with him. Victim was a father of seven children and hailed from Swabi. SHO Ghoomro termed the incident a result of some personal enmity although the family did not suspect anyone.
Police have registered a case against unidentified men on the complaint of victim’s brother Lal Mohammad and initiated the probe.
Meanwhile, a man was shot dead and another injured in Junaid Nagar, Orangi Town within the limits of Pakistan Bazaar police station. Humayun, 40, son of Abdul Hameed and Ismail, 30, son of Hashim were going on a motorcycle, when unidentified armed men opened fire. Resultantly, both received injuries and were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Humayun succumbed to his injuries.
Some unconfirmed reports say both men, pillion riders, were shot at and killed by the police for not stopping at a picket.
On the other hand, DSP Tariq Malik said injured Ismail in his statement said two unidentified men had targeted him. Ismail and Humayun were the residents of Shah Wali Ullah Colony sector 11 Orangi Town. Case could not be registered till filing of this report.
