Khairpur police kill wanted dacoit
SUKKUR: The Khairpur police shot dead a notorious criminal here who had a two million rupee reward on his head.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Khairpur district, told reporters that the police had been informed about the presence of dacoits in the Manganeja area in the limits of Pir Jo Goth, whereupon police wasted no time in cordoning off the suspected location.
However, soon the dacoits came to know about the police action, and a shootout started between the dacoits and the police, which resulted in the death of one of the dacoits, Mir Sheikh, who was wanted to Sindh Police in a number of cases ranging from kidnapping for ransom to murder and others.
The Government of Sindh had placed a two million rupee reward on his head.
Dacoit Mir Sheikh’s corpse was retrieved along with an AK47 with a round. The SSP said that a police party was still chasing the dead dacoit’s associates and expressed the hope to get a hold on them soon.
The SSP also said that Inspector General of Sindh Police and the provincial home minister appreciated Khairpur Police’s efforts over this achievement.
