Karachi: Police kill ‘unidentified’ killer
KARACHI: Shah Latif Town police claimed on Wednesday that a suspected bandit, involved in as many as 200 robberies and seven murders, was killed during an encounter in Mohammad Saulah Goth.
However, despite the multitude of the crimes allegedly committed by the bandit, the police failed to positively identify him.
The police said the suspect riding a motorcycle intercepted Masood Hussain, the cashier of a local company, and snatched Rs400,000 from him on the National Highway.
After receiving information from Hussain, police gave a chase. When the suspect reached the Manzil Petrol Pump in Saulah Muhammad Goth, he opened fire at the police, who retaliated, killing him on the spot.
The police recovered the stolen cash, a TT pistol and a snatched motorcycle.
The body of the alleged bandit, who was in his mid-20s, was later shifted to the JPMC for an autopsy.
The SHO of Shah Latif Town told The News that the suspect was involved in more than 200 robberies and killed seven people, including an ASI.
