Car riders kill three cops in Khanewal
KHANEWAL: Unknown car riders killed three constables and injured two others, including a pedestrian, near the Rango Bridge here on Thursday.
A police van (KWK-2039) was waiting for Justice Muhammad Qasim at Insaf Filling Station when four car riders opened fire at the constables. As a result, driver Usman Ghani, constables Farooq and Allah Rakha died on the spot. Head Constable Malik Shabbir Hussain and Khalid, a pedestrian, were seriously injured and shifted to Multan’s Nishtar Hospital by Rescue 1122. People told The News that the car riders looked well trained and had killed the policemen comfortably. They added that the attackers had fled towards Multan by the same car.
DPO Muhammad Waqar Abbasi, Kabirwala DSP Mian Tanveer and DSP Javed with a large number of policemen reached the spot. DPO Muhammad Waqar Abbasi told journalists that it was a sad incident. “We are probing the incident from different angles,” he said, adding that the police were on red alert after the incident. Allah Rakha was a resident of Chak 124/10R, Jahanian, and Muhammad Farooq Santal belonged to Chak 44/15-L. However, Malik Shabbir was a resident of Colony No 3, Khanewal.
