Islamabad: Man recovered
ISLAMABAD: A retired engineer of Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL), who was kidnapped for ransom about two months back, has been recovered from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police said here on Thursday.
Mohammad Naeem went missing on October 10 after leaving his Chak Shahzad house for Abbottabad.
Later, his family received a call from Naeem’s cellphone in which a man demanded Rs10 million for his release. The family lodged a complaint with the Shahzad Town police against the person(s) on October 15.
A police team led by SP Rural Faisal Bashir Memon and subdivisional police officer Khan Khursheed Ahmad raided the localities in KP, including Batgram, Allai, Bisham, Mansehra and Abbottabad.
On Wednesday, the police traced the outlaws in Kohati hills between Swabi and Mardan districts and raided the area along with the KP police. The kidnappers opened fire on the police. However, when the police retaliated, they escaped. A search in the area led to the recovery of the kidnap victim who was brought back to Islamabad.
It was revealed that the victim was trapped by the kidnappers with the help of a girl on whose invitation he went to Abbottabad from where he was abducted.
