KARACHI: The law enforcement agencies on Wednesday claimed to have arrested ten suspects, including two target killers, from different areas of the metropolis, recovering weapons from their possession.
Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested two target killers Bakht Rehman and Sakhi Rehman along with two TT pistols after an encounter that took place at Baldia, Rasheedabad.
An SIU official said both accused were involved in several cases of murder and extortion. They said during initial interrogation they confessed to have killed seven people and have been involved in more than a dozen cases of extortion. Same culprits were involved in the firing incident at route No 20 bus during ethnic violence in Karachi.
The official said Bakht was involved in receiving extortions form the factory owners of SITE area. Accused further revealed that their other accomplices escaped abroad in the wake of crackdown against target killers and extortionists.
It may be mentioned here that the crime branch had a few weeks ago recovered huge cache of weapons belonging to their accomplice Akbar Zada. SIU has registered FIRs (529/11, 530/11 and 531/11) under Sections 353 and 13-D against the accused. Further investigation was underway.
Separately, a heavy contingent of Rangers conducted a raid at Paper Market, Kharadar and detained four people, recovering three TT pistols from their possession. Sources said Rangers conducted the raids on the pointation of some detainees. The accused were shifted to an unknown location for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police claimed to have arrested three criminals Saeed Khan, Abdul Wahab and Ikram Uddin, recovering three TT pistols and a snatched mobile phone from their possession. DSP Altaf Hussain said that the accused were involved in more than a dozen cases of robbery and street crime. Further investigation was underway.
