Lahore: Rape accused acquitted
Lahore: Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Tariq Mehmood Zargham on Thursday acquitted one Muhammad Shafqat, a rape accused, by giving him the benefit of the doubt.
One Zafer Iqbal had filed a petition in the court contending that his daughter was a third-year student.
On August 4, 2008, her daughter went to academy to take her classes from where she was allegedly kidnapped and then raped by Muhammad Shafqat and his accomplices.
Describing the incident, he said that the aforementioned accused visited the academy and introduced themselves as cousins of his daughter.
They also told the professor that father of the girl had received severe injuries in a road accident and his life was in danger.
On this, professor allowed her daughter to go with them.
Kidnappers also managed to deceive her daughter by saying that they were residents of the locality in which accident took place and her father had requested them to bring her, as he was taking his last breaths.
After that, they took his daughter to a house where she was raped.
On Thursday, the judge acquitted the accused by giving him the benefit of the doubt after the prosecution failed to establish charges levelled against him.
