LAHORE: An accountability court judge Mian Mureed Hussain on Friday convicted Seema Munawar – former additional advocate general, Punjab, and daughter of the late LHC Justice Munawer Elahi – for withdrawing pension of her father by showing her status as unmarried while she was a divorcee.
The court awarded a three-year jail term to Seema along with imposition of a fine of Rs. 3.9 million. In case of default in payment of fine, the convict would face six-month further imprisonment.
NAB, Punjab, had accused Seema of withdrawing pension of her father by showing her status unmarried while she was a divorcee. She had withdrawn an amount of Rs. 3.9 million as pension. The convict had secured a bail from the LHC.
On Friday, the court, after hearing the final arguments of both parties, convicted Seema and sent her to jail.
The convict implored the court to contact the LHC in a bid to get relief but the judge declined her plea.
