Karachi: 3 wounded in robbery bid
KARACHI: Three persons a policeman, an alleged bandit and a pedestrian were wounded in a robbery attempt in Khajoor Bazaar within the remit of the Kharadar police station on Thursday.
Police said the incident occurred at Zahid Store after three suspects barged into the shop and held the people in there at gunpoint.
A nearby stationed police van was informed about the incident.
When constable Shaukat Ali approached the shop, the suspects opened fire on him, who returned fire and left a bandit wounded, according to the police. A 55-year-old pedestrian, who could not be identified, was also wounded as a bullet penetrated his neck.
Police said two bandits escaped, but one of their accomplices was hit by a gunshot in the abdomen, wounded and was arrested.
The suspect was identified as Essa, a resident of Chakiwara. A TT pistol was seized from him.
Constable Ali suffered a gunshot wound in the leg and was said to be in a stable condition. All the wounded were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment. However, the unidentified pedestrian and the bandit were in a serious condition, police said.
