Peshawar: Smuggling bid foiled
PESHAWAR: The Capital City Police on Thursday claimed to have foiled an attempt to smuggle a large cache of arms and ammunition and arrested an accused.
The police had set up pickets in various roads of the city after a tip-off that weapons were being smuggled through a pick up truck from Peshawar.
“A police team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Imtiaz stopped a suspicious truck on Service Road near Usman CNG Station and during checking recovered 270,000 cartridges and 30 pistols from the secret cavities of the vehicle,” said an official. Police arrested the driver Mohammad Aslam, resident of Amankot Swat.
