Lahore: 37 women, men arrested from ‘guesthouse’
LAHORE: A police officer badly thrashed and wounded another to escape the raid, shortly after several cops stormed into a guesthouse and arrested at least 37 women and men in an objectionable condition late on Thursday night, police sources said.
Ex-Station House Officer (SHO) Race Course police station, Sub Inspector Taimour Malik, said to be a black sheep in police department, was among 37 persons found drunk in objectionable condition as the police raided “Seven Star” guesthouse-cum-brothel, owned by Ghulam Mohayuddin, President APML Lahore chapter and friend of ex-despot Pervez Musharraf. The police team headed by SHO Old Anarkali Shahid Hussain raided the guesthouse after Thursday midnight on a tip-off.
Sources said that the police arrested at least 17 women and 20 men and also recovered liquor from their possession during thorough search of the hotel rooms. The police took the men and women to the Race Course police station for interrogation. As Sub Inspector Malik Taimour reached outside the police station, he kicked and punched SHO Shahid Hussain and managed to escape from the police custody.
However, the police have registered a case (under section 216, 371/AB of PPC) against Taimour Malik and 37 others. The police have also registered a separate FIR (under section 224, 225 and 186/353) against the police officer Taimour Malik, who is still at large.
Meanwhile, the police investigators produced at the 37 women and men before a local court on early Friday. The court granted bail to the women while ordered the police to send the men to jail. Further investigations are underway.
