Islamabad: 1,623 gangsters arrested this year
Islamabad: The Islamabad Police have arrested a total of 1,623 gangsters besides busting 453 criminal gangs during the current year, the police spokesman said.
A total of 18 gangs involved in blind murder and kidnapping for ransom cases were traced and a total of 56 persons involved in these cases were arrested. During the same period, a total of 50 gangs involved in immoral activities and rape cases had been busted and 378 accused were also apprehended.
Around six gangs of dacoit were busted besides arrests of 34 dacoits. Similarly, 56 gangs for looting persons at gunpoint were busted while its 170 criminals were arrested. A total of 192 gangs involved in burglaries were busted and 557 criminals involved in it were arrested while 34 gangs of car thieves were unearthed besides arrests of 101 car thieves and those involved in tempering vehicles.
Meanwhile, 21 gangs of dacoits were arrested red-handed and its 106 gangsters were apprehended. Around 76 gangs involved in crime of miscellaneous nature busted and its 221 gangsters were nabbed. During the current year, police arrested 384 proclaimed offenders, 1,013 court absconders and 286 gambles too.
IGP Bani Amin Khan has said that commitment of the police personnel despite several constraints made them successful against the criminal elements this year. He vowed to continue these efforts for effective policing and make police department service-oriented in real manner. He also directed police officials to ensure arrest of criminals at large after their involvement in crime of heinous nature.
The IGP said that police officers and jawans remained firm against the menace of terrorism and also emerged successful during the ongoing year in countering criminal elements, the murderers, drug pushers, robbers and criminal gangs.
