Lahore: Young fire fighter commits suicide
LAHORE: A 24-year-old fire worker of Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) committed suicide over unexplained reasons in Nawab Town police precincts on Sunday.
Police investigators said that the deceased identified as Nabeel Ahmed had been living at a rented quarter located in Ali Town, an area of Nawab Town police station.
The body of the deceased was recovered from his quarter on Sunday morning.
Nabeel Ahmed, a resident of Multan, had been discharging his duties as fire fighter at Thokar Niaz Baig Center of Rescue 1122 for the last several years.
Police investigators said the accounts of locals, colleagues and fire workers show the deceased was under severe mental stress, which he did not disclose or share with anyone.
The deceased also got admission in the University of Lahore in Engineering besides performing his official job. Police say on Saturday night he went to his quarter but on Sunday morning, the neighbourers found his body lying on the floor of his quarter.
“Yes, it is a suicide case because every evidence collected from the crime scene shows that the deceased consumed poisonous pills, which claimed his life,” a senior police officer said.
He further said that the bereaved family has refused to initiate a legal action against anyone. Later, his body was handed over to his heirs after police completed necessary medico-legal formalities.
