Karachi: AVCC recovers abducted man, arrests 3 kidnappers
KARACHI: Personnel of the Anti–Violent Crime Cell (AVCC), with the collaboration of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), have safely recovered a kidnapped Forest Department officer.
Ghulam Subhani, SP, AVCC, said that, Irfanuddin, 51, an officer of the Forest Department, was kidnapped on September 12, 2011, from the jurisdiction of the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station. The accused had demanded Rs10 million for the release of the hostage.
Subsequently, joint teams of the AVCC and the CPLC, under the supervision the SP and the CPLC Chief, Ahmed Chinoy, were formed. During the investigation, they traced the accused kidnappers to Jam Abro Goth, Tando Adam, Interior Sindh.
SP Subhani said that information teams under his supervision moved to the above-noted area, reaching the prescribed place, where an encounter took place, which lasted for hours after which, they managed to have Irfanuddin Ahmed released.
Besides, they arrested three accused identified as Juman Ustad, Faizu Jamali, and Karam Ali. Two rifles, two TT pistols, one mouser and dozens of live cartridges were recovered from their possession.
The accused were wanted by the police of Karachi and Interior Sindh in a number of kidnapping for ransom cases. Further probe is under way.
