Sadiqabad: Relatives booked for damaging hospital
SADIQABAD: The A Division police have registered a case against the relatives of a young man and a woman, who died allegedly due to on-duty doctors’ negligence in Sheikh Zayed Hospital of Rahim Yar Khan, for threatening doctors and damaging equipment.
The case was registered against deceased youth’s brothers Shahnawaz and Ejaz and the woman’s husband and son among other relatives for interfering in official affairs.
The relatives of 27-year-old Zulfiqar, a resident of Qamarabad area, and of 65-year-old Walan Mai of Ghotki had staged protests outside the Emergency Ward of the hospital and raised slogans against the doctors holding them responsible for the deaths of their loved ones.
The protesters had alleged that the on-duty medics delayed their treatment despite repeated requests made by the families. The protesters also alleged that the doctors remained busy in talking on their mobile phones and did not pay heed to their repeated requests. They alleged posedly life threats on the doctors and damaged medical equipment and furniture worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in the Emergency.
Zulfiqar was admitted to the hospital because of suffering from fever. But he could not survive the disease. Likewise, Walan Mai, who was suffering from hepatitis C, was hospitalised in critical condition. But she was not treated right away and died. Mai’s husband Shabban and son Mithal said that she was not provided medical treatment even after an hour of her admission to the hospital.
